If you’re looking for the timeless beauty of natural oak without the premium price tag of a 6mm veneer, the Prestige Oak collection from Preference is the perfect place to start. Known as a “builder’s range,” these 14mm engineered boards feature a 2mm veneer, offering a high-end look that can be either floated or glued down.
In our latest showroom update, we’re walking through all 12 colors, including some brand-new arrivals. Here is the breakdown of the collection to help you choose the right tone for your home.
1. The Timeless Classics
These colors have been around since the beginning of the range because they simply work.
- Buck Natural: The ultimate classic European Oak look. It has a warm, slightly yellow tone that never goes out of style.
- Bondi Beach: A long-standing favorite in many Brisbane apartments and houses. It’s a white-wash style that helped start the trend.
- Smoked White: Another classic that offers a smooth, clean finish with a traditional feel.
2. Modern & Trendy Tones (New Arrivals)
For new builds or modern renovations, these colors lean away from the yellows and toward cleaner, crisper finishes.
- Rawhide (New): This is one of the trendiest colors right now. It keeps the natural look but removes the yellow, making it perfect for modern interiors.
- Cocoa Husk: Similar to natural oak but shifted toward white/gray. It’s a great fit for a minimalist aesthetic.
- Iceberg: The lightest in the range. It’s excellent for dark houses or narrow hallways because it reflects maximum light, making spaces feel larger.
- Cobblestone (New): A personal favorite at LKV! It sits in the “honey” spectrum—rich and deep without being too dark. It highlights the grain beautifully.
3. The Moody Darks
Dark floors are making a comeback. They provide a stunning contrast against white walls and light furniture.
- Gunmetal: A dark, sophisticated gray-brown with a brushed finish.
- Brownstone: The darkest option in the range. It’s incredibly rich and helps hide the natural knots in the wood for a more consistent, uniform look.
4. The Gray Spectrum
While interior designers are slowly moving away from the “all-gray” look of five years ago, these remains popular for specific projects.
- Ocean Mist: A light, gray-white tone.
- Royal Gray: Despite the name, this isn’t a flat gray. It’s a versatile mid-tone that matches a wide variety of furniture styles.
Choosing by “Vibe” and Practicality
- To hide knots: Go darker (like Brownstone).
- To brighten a dark room: Go very light (like Iceberg).
- For a “lived-in” renovation: Stick to the classics (like Buck Natural).
- For a modern home: Try the new arrivals (like Rawhide or Cobblestone).
Pricing & Quality
Because these boards have a 2mm veneer, they are more affordable than premium 4mm or 6mm ranges, typically starting around $70 + GST per square meter (supply only). Keep in mind that prices vary based on the size of your project and whether you choose a supply-and-install package.
All boards in this range feature a Tongue & Groove (T&G) locking system, which is the industry standard for a secure, professional finish.
