First of all, Timber flooring is a quite expensive part of renovation. So you need to understand where you can save some money or pay more for better quality. We have enough experience to say, that DIY flooring installation can bring you in to trouble. We’ve seen many cases where people overestimated their expertise, wasted time and money. So, here is some friendly advise before you start.

Installing laminate flooring in new home indoor


You should know your budget and the amount of money you can afford to spent on your new flooring.

Laminate flooring
 – its cheapest way to go and It is a relatively inexpensive substitute to timber flooring. It is ideal to put laminate flooring in properties for rent, areas with high traffic and commercial sites. So, in the future it will be easy to replace at low cost. Laminate flooring from $20/m2.
Bamboo flooring – is the ideal solution for those who want to have a timber floors on a budget from $45/m2.
Engineered floors – Most popular product in 2017 and it is less expensive option for hardwood flooring. No need for sanding and polishing after install. Prices starting from $75/m2.

Solid Hardwood flooring (raw timber) – is an expensive type of timber flooring and on the other hand, solid hardwood floors will add irresistible charm and convenience to your home and could increase the value of your property. Prices may vary from $95/m2. Needs Sanding and Polishing after install, which is $30+/m2.
Parquetry – is the most expensive and simultaneously the most luxurious and best looking timber floors. Traditionally parquetry is associated with well being and prosperity. In some cases does not need Polishing and Sanding after install. Prices starting from $100+/m2.


After you defined your budget allowance, you can choose the colour of flooring. Some customers prefer to choose the colour first and only after start thinking about the amount of money they are going to spend. This is not very good approach as there is no difficulties to find appropriate flooring within the colour range you need. Laminate flooring and Engineered timber have biggest variety of colours.


There is 3 grades for Solid Hardwood flooring,

 – This grade limits the inclusion of many natural features or imperfections and it has a clean modern appearance.
Standard grade – A grade which allows an increased variety of outstanding natural features including gum veins, insect markings and knots rather to Select Grade.
Natural (Feature) grade – has a variety of natural features including knots, gum veins and insect holes, creating a floor full of old world charm at a very affordable price too.


Janka rating is another important factor, especially if you are going to lay timber floors in properties for rent, commercial sites and active areas with a lot of traffic. The higher the Janka, the harder the wood.


Usually we recommend to order 5% more for off-cuts. In case, you desire to do diagonal or complicated shape of flooring, please order 10% more. Keep in mind to ask your supplier to give a refund for any not used material if it is in not opened boxes.
